Provisioning errors with undefined method permit! for ActiveSupport::HashWithIndifferentAccess
Description
When attempting to provision a host discovered with foreman discovery, selecting "Create host" fails with the following error:

you seem to have Katello 3.3, Foreman 1.14.3 and Discovery 8.0.1
this is related to #18800 but I don't understand why there is permit! method call on line 11, have you modified this file? Can you send me /opt/theforeman/tfm/root/usr/share/gems/gems/foreman_discovery-8.0.1/app/services/foreman_discovery/host_converter.rb please?
Anyway, 1.14 is going to be unsupported in month, I highly suggest upgrade to 1.15 where this was finally fixed. We had several patches around strong parameters in katello, foreman core and discovery and it was a complicated case. I am not sure if it works correctly in all circumstances.
A workaround might be to set
config.action_controller.permit_all_parameters = truein /usr/share/foreman/config/application.rb

Thank you for your quick response! I had forgotten about it, but this modification may be from a dirty patch that was suggested last time I had issues with discovery (http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/18106#note-28).
I tried the workaround you suggested but the problem still persisted.
Is it safe to upgrade foreman to 1.15 independently of katello or would you suggest I upgrade both by upgrading to katello 3.4?

you seem to have Katello 3.3, Foreman 1.14.3 and Discovery 8.0.1
this is related to #18800 but I don't understand why there is permit! method call on line 11, have you modified this file? Can you send me /opt/theforeman/tfm/root/usr/share/gems/gems/foreman_discovery-8.0.1/app/services/foreman_discovery/host_converter.rb please?
Anyway, 1.14 is going to be unsupported in month, I highly suggest upgrade to 1.15 where this was finally fixed. We had several patches around strong parameters in katello, foreman core and discovery and it was a complicated case. I am not sure if it works correctly in all circumstances.
A workaround might be to set
config.action_controller.permit_all_parameters = true
in /usr/share/foreman/config/application.rb

Allright, so I believe we have fixed this in 8.0.1 already. Make sure you update your Katello 3.3 instance to the latest version and revert this manual patch. If you are unsure, you can do "yum reinstall foreman" which will replace all files, or safer rpm -Va will show you all changed files locally, then replace them. Restart whole instance and it should work for you.
If that fails tho, we can attempt to solve it here and if that fails, you need to upgrade Katello 3.4. You need to do proper upgrade procedure, see Katello docs for details. Remember to backup and everything! 3.4 is very solid release, highly recommend it.
