Hi,
One should be able to specify compute resource level parameters. This would be very handy for example to provide information like what datacentre/IaaS provider is used and applying specific configuration by puppet.

its possible to use smart vars for this, you can set the order based on provider (see the example in the wiki).

Smart variables are tight to classes and cannot be used as a replacement global variables without a common class applied to all nodes which is not a solution in many cases.
