this error comes when virt-who is sending updates of the hypervisor to katelllo, virt-who is running as root of course

Also just to let you know before of this issues the virt-who never report the hypervisor and redhat provide the following patch

i don't know if this is related but is good to let you know, before the virt-who service stop working because can't find the guest id

I can confirm that we see the same error in our environement. We also implement the mentioned redhat patch.

Hi,
I've had that issue with my virt-who server aswell, but it seems to have gone away after updating all packages to align with my katello server (new katello client etc). Where does the patch come from? I can't find the corresponding bz/issue.

even with the virt-who change I still get warnings on hypervisor tasks "Validation failed: Owner There is no owner with id 1 and type User", it does seem like the virt-who report is processed though

if I saw that correctly the changes to virt-who are part of the rhel 7.4 release

RHEL 7.4 only solves the issue that virt-who is crashing. The hypervisor update problem is not solved as i know but I will have a test.

I can confirm that in my environment the hypervisor update is running fine again after implementing pull request 6914.
