Description

Salt uses MD5 hashes by default, individual nodes must be
configured to use other hash_type

I can confirm Salt Master and Minions have FIPS support as of 2015.8.1-1 - see https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/28585 - I currently have this enabled on my 2017.7.1 salt master and minions without issues.
