Certain actions in the UI seem to cause parameter overrides become escaped. This does not happen consistently, but we can reproduce across different client operating systems/browsers.

When I change the "environment" or "OS" of a host the parameters seem to be reloaded, and escape characters, as well as newlines are added into the text fields in the foreman web UI.

Depending on the affected parameter, I may then be unable to submit the changes, as format validation fails on the changed parameter.

Worse - in some cases it allows the change, which could in some circumstances result in unintended config changes on the managed host.

The workaround I have to apply at moment is to manually copy out each of the affected overrides, then change environment or operating system of the managed host, then copy back again.
