in the host list, I can mass-editor host variables. This does, however, only work when the variables are already set in the host. There is no possibility to mass-add a host variable. In some settings, the host groups feature is used to control some other aspect of the host, so using host groups to have the host inherit a variable cannot be used in all cases.

Regarding the handling of host variables, the mass management actions in the host list look a bit half baked. Please consider improving that.
