Feature #28207
closedDEB packages for installing Katello on Ubuntu/Debian when Foreman runs on Ubuntu/Debian
Description
I have Foreman installed and running on an Ubuntu host, but I'm trying to get it setup to manage Ubuntu/Debian Content Hosts.
To get Ubuntu/Debian hosts joined I need to use a 3rd party method : https://pypi.org/project/deb-subscription/#description
But the remaining issue is that I need Katello running on the Foreman install I have, and Katello cannot be installed on Ubuntu/Debian systems running Foreman to provide content to Content Hosts.
Considering how much Ubuntu and Debian systems there are out there, this would help a tonne if we could get this.
I want to use Foreman for my environment, which is >95% Ubuntu and <5% Debian, and 0% CentOS/RHEL.
Can we please get Katello installable on a Foreman host running Debian/Ubuntu with DEB packages? A PPA/public Repo for Katello updates would be stellar too.

Thanks for this request. This represents a very large amount of work and is not something that we are planning to address at this time. That said, I will close this feature request but we do accept contributions! https://github.com/theforeman/foreman-packaging
Also keep in mind that Foreman and Katello must be installed together and not after the fact.
