Description

support for NVME controllers for VMware

2. Who is the customer behind the request?
- Finastra Switzerland GmbH

Account name : Finastra Switzerland GmbH
account number : 835821
TAM customer: no
CSM customer: no
Strategic: no

3. What is the nature and description of the request?
- The list of disk controllers that one can choose from is not the same on the Satellite Compute Profile configuration page as in the VMWare vCenter. As a result, One cannot use a profile or Satellite as a whole, to create a VM with a virtual NVMe controller and disk.
- VMware supports NVMe controllers now in recent versions: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.vm_admin.doc/GUID-63E09187-0E75-405B-97C7-B48DA1B1734F.html

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
- In many cases it has big performance advantages even over VMware's paravirtual scsi controller (driver).
Satellite should support NVMe controllers.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
- By getting the NVME feature implemented.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?
- No

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
- No

10. List any affected packages or components.
- Compute resource

11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
- NA
