Bug #39238
openPush to docker repo that was previously synced from upstream fails with ambiguous error
Description
I created a repo that was synced from an upstream OCI registry (pulp instance).
While I am trying to push an image (or helm chart, tested with both) I receive an error:
"name invalid: Repository name '<name>' already exists in this product using a different naming scheme. Please retry your request with the format or destroy and recreate the repository using your preferred schema."
Is that by design or something is wrong with my configuration?

maciej,
Not being able to push to synced repositories is a design choice. Would you like to see an improvement around the error message?
I don't see this limitation in the documentation. I created an issue over there: https://github.com/theforeman/foreman-documentation/issues/4776

- Tracker changed from Support to Bug
- Subject changed from Push to docker repo that was previously synced from upstream fails to Push to docker repo that was previously synced from upstream fails with ambiguous error
- Target version set to Katello 4.21.0
- Triaged changed from No to Yes
The workflow to push images to existing synced repositories is not supported by design. However the error message can be clearer about the cause and next steps. Marking as a bug.
