Bug #39337
closedRed Hat container registry authentication not working as expected in Repo Discovery
Description
According to https://access.redhat.com/articles/RegistryAuthentication - to use the registry.redhat.io registry, you have to have a Red Hat login. However, when syncing repositories from this registry, Red Hat credentials are not required; the username and password fields can be filled with any random values.
Steps to Reproduce:
Satellite UI --> Content --> Products --> Repo Discovery
Select 'Repository Type' as 'container images' and 'Registry to Discover' is 'registry.redhat.io'.Click on Discovery while keeping the username and password fields blank. It will fail and prompt you to enter credentials. If you provide Red Hat customer portal credentials, it will work. However, it will also work if you enter any random username and password. So, there is no requirement to use your actual Red Hat login.
Resolution
Evaluate if sync requires a username password
