a decent version of git should handle the change for you, but in case you are using an old version (such as the one packaged for RHEL5), you should simply change the file

vendor/plugins/virt/.git/config
to point to virt repo, i.e.

[remote "origin"]
    fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
    url = git://github.com/ohadlevy/virt.git
