Just wanted to add that as an additional benefit, this should make the deb content smart proxy sync significantly more efficient (since the verbatim publisher does not need to regenerate all metadata during publish, it simply mirrors a identical copy of the metadata from the main Katello server). So benefits include "stateless proxies" (they will mirror the metadata from the Katello server including all signatures, eliminating the need to configure separate signing services on the proxies), and a significant efficiency gain.
