and verified id exists in the table:

Update. Looks like this issue is related to the table 'hosts'. Within that table the field of 'type' shows as Host::Discovered. But the templates are looking for Host::Managed. If I manually edit the 'type' field on the host with the same ID, then the resolve works and the host is able to find its templates.

I'm seeing this issue when selecting the architecture even, it's quite a blocker IMO as one cannot provision any discovered host unless a hostgroup with the OS and templates is chosen.

update: I have confirmed the only issue is rendering templates. The hosts will still continue to provision. So no totally a blocker on my end.

Actually #16750 was the problem I had in my last comment. This is fixed by https://github.com/theforeman/foreman_discovery/pull/305 and https://github.com/theforeman/foreman/pull/3905
